Julia (Leslie Malton), Ricarda (Désirée Nosbusch) and Constanze (Suzanne von Borsody) are connected through their traditional grappa distillery. Julia is the twin sister of Karl (Sven-Eric Bechtolf), the patriarch of the family business. Ricarda is his wife, Constanze his ex-wife. However, their love for the head of the family is the only thing the three have in common.
When Karl dies unexpectedly, well-kept secrets emerge, and it seems impossible to reach an agreement on his inheritance. A battle breaks out that deeply divides all involved: the repercussions of Karl’s machinations plunge the family deeper and deeper into ruin. The next generation, Ricarda’s daughters (Lilly Charlotte Dreesen, Antonia Bill), Julia’s son (Hannes Wegener) and his wife (Alina Levshin), seem doomed, but Julia, Ricarda and Constanze struggle, each in their own way, to free themselves from the past.
